SYMMETRY TYPES: A TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF GYURI DARVAS

Abstract: I am very sad to say that someone I admired and knew for many years, Gyuri Darvas, died in 2024: My lecture will involve aspects of a summary of my interaction with Gyuri over that time. I would like to present simple ideas of symmetry that I became aware of through Gyuri’s pursuit of symmetry over the years. There are some complicated examples that I will mention near the end of my talk, but I wanted to explain to this audience (which may contain some people not that familiar with ideas of symmetry) examples of the discipline which I expect they can readily understand.
