Abstract: In the densely-packed state, molecules often behave differently from those in solution, resulting in unique reactions, conformational changes and molecular rearrangements. To understand these phenomena, information on chirality is crucial. Here we describe our more than twenty years of research in developing spectrophotometers that can measure true chirality in densely-packed materials.
